Metro State is committed to providing opportunities for student-athletes, to excel in the classroom, in competition and in the community.
Membership
Metro State is a member of NCAA Division II (www.NCAA.com) and competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (www.rmacsports.org). Currently, Metro State sponsors 15 sports, providing nearly 200 student-athletes an opportunity to compete in one of the top programs in NCAA Division II while earning their degree. |

Metro State Athletics Highlights
Since joining the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 1996, Metro State has won 35 RMAC Tournament championships and 33 regular season championships.
Metro State has made 109 NCAA championship appearances all-time between all 15 of its current athletics teams.
Volleyball has made 11 consecutive NCAA postseason appearances and women's soccer has made nine in a row. Men's basketball has reached the NCAA Tournament in 13 of the past 14 seasons, the most of any Division II school.
Metro State has won four team national championships and captured two individual national championship since 2000. Men's basketball won national titles in 2000 and 2002 and women's soccer won in 2004 and 2006. Men's indoor track student-athlete Anthony Luna captured the 2009 indoor and outdoor NCAA national championships in the 800-meter run.
One-hundred-sixteen different individuals have earned a total of 248 All-America honors while competing at Metro State. Additionally, 16 student-athletes have been named All-America two times and seven more have been three-time All-Americans.
Since 2000, Metro State has had 57 All-Americans, including 16 two-timers and nine three-time All-Americans.
Metro State has had five individuals earn Academic All-America honors, including women's soccer player Rachel Zollner (2006, 2007) and men's basketball player Jesse Wagstaff (2008, 2009) as two-time honorees.
Metro State has produced three national players of the year in the past decade. Ymara Guante (2004) and Kylee Hanavan (2006) each were named NSCAA/adidas National Player of the Year in women's soccer. Mark Worthington was named NABC Player of the Year for men's basketball in 2005. |
