Metro State released its 2010-11 men's and women's basketball schedules on Tuesday. Both teams will play a 26-game regular season schedule, one less than 2009-10 as part of NCAA Division II's Life in the Balance initiative that was passed in January. DENVER - Metro State athletic director Joan McDermott announced on Tuesday that Tanya Haave will become the new head coach for the Metro State women’s basketball team. Haave replaces Linda Lappe, who resigned in April to accept the head coaching position at the University of Colorado. Haave has spent the past four seasons as the head coach at the University of San Francisco. Season Recap: Metro State finished the 2009-10 season with a 17-12 overall record, including 11-8 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, good for third place in the East Division after being picked fifth in the division in coaches preseason poll. Metro State eventually lost to fourth-ranked Fort Lewis in the RMAC Shootout semifinals. FLC ended up as the 2010 Central Region Champion and reached the national title game. Even more impressive, the Roadrunners did so without a post player on its roster after January as the team’s only two posts were dismissed from the team in December after violating team rules. DENVER, Colo. - Metro State head women’s basketball coach Linda Lappe stepped down on Monday to accept the head coaching job at the University of Colorado. Lappe will be the seventh coach in CU women’s basketball history and will take over for Kathy McConnell-Miller, who compiled a record of 65-88 (.425) in five years for the Buffaloes.
