Metro State, in just the third year of its program, advanced to the College World Series where it was eliminated in the semifinals by the eventual national champion Hawaii Pacific. Head coach Jen Fisher was named CaptainU Coach of the Year and third baseman Tara Mickelson was named Daktronics second team All-America, while shortstop Amber Roundtree and Christie Robinson were both honorable mention selections.

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Metro State softball coaching staff was named Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year on Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.  The Roadrunners were coached by head coach Jen Fisher and assistant coaches Vanessa Becerra, Bre Padgett and Wes Madrill.  National champion Hawaii Pacific's coaches earned NCAA Division II Coaching Staff of the Year.

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. - Metro State softball player Tara Mickelson was named to Softball Magazine's 2010 Division II Top-12 Seniors on Monday in the July edition of the magazine.  She is the first player in school history to earn the honor.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Metro State softball player Tara Mickelson was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Athlete of the Month for May on Friday.  She becomes the third student-athlete from Metro State to win the award this season.  Volleyball player Bri Morley earned the award in November and Mickelson's teammate Christie Robinson was named athlete of the month in April.

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Metro State softball team finished the 2010 season ranked No. 4 in the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division II top-25 poll released on Thursday.  The Roadrunners sat at No. 4 in each of the final three polls and held that spot for a total of five weeks during the season, their highest ranking in school history.

JOSEPH, Mo. - No. 3 Hawaii Pacific put together 14 hits off No. 4 Metro State as the Sea Warriors beat the Roadrunners 7-2 on Sunday in the NCAA Division II College Softball World Series semifinals to eliminate Metro State.  HPU will advance to the championship game on Monday against No. 2 Valdosta State (Ga.).  Metro State's season ends with a 53-6 record, the best record in just the third year of the softball program.

JOSEPH, Mo. - The No. 4 Metro State softball team stunned No. 1 North Georgia 4-1 on Saturday in an elimination game, giving the Saints their second consecutive loss and second of the season.  The Roadrunners improved to 53-5 this season, while NGCSU dropped to 51-2.  North Georgia was handed its first loss of the season on Friday, 6-1 to Valdosta State (Ga.).
