DENVER, Colo. - No. 16 Metro State rallied for a pair of 7-6 victories over No. 12 Nebraska-Omaha on Friday at Auraria Field.  The first game ended in nine innings, while game two's walk-off hit came in the bottom of the seventh.  It was the season-opening day for each team.

DENVER, Colo. - Third baseman Everett Altman delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh of game two to give Metro State a split against Colorado State-Pueblo on opening day for the Roadrunners.  Metro State fell 11-8 in game one, but rebounded with a 9-8 win in game two.  The Roadrunners blew seventh-inning leads in both games.

KEARNEY, Neb. - No. 23 Metro State jumped out to a 24-point halftime lead and held on for a 73-63 win at Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday night on the road.  The Roadrunners improved to 17-3 overall and 10-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while the Lopers fell to 9-11 overall and 4-8 in the RMAC.

KEARNEY, Neb. - The Metro State women's basketball went scoreless in the final 5:11 of the second half as Nebraska-Kearney came from behind to win 68-64 on Thursday evening in Kearney, Neb.  The loss dropped the Roadrunners to 11-9 overall and 6-6 in the RMAC, while the Lopers improved to 6-13 overall and 5-7 in the RMAC.

The Metro State softball team will open the 2010 season at home with doubleheaders on Feb. 5, 6 and 7. The Roadrunners host No. 12 Nebraska-Omaha on Friday, Fort Hays State on Saturday and Emporia State on Sunday. Games begin at noon on Friday and Saturday and at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

The Metro State indoor track teams will travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for the New Mexico Classic hosted by NCAA Division I The University of New Mexico. Head coach John Supsic plans on bringing seven athletes to compete this weekend in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Five men will compete, including Shawn Lindbom (800m), Rick Bogatay (Mile), Brandon Johnson (Mile), Derek Fiorini (400m) and Nate Newland (Mile) and two women in Xenia Flores (5K) and Morgan Thomas (800m).
