Tennis teams picked third in RMAC preseason poll
COLORADO SPRINGS - Both Metro State women's and men's tennis teams were picked to finish third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll on Wednesday. Men's player and last year's first team all-conference pick for singles, Lucio Cangiano, was named to the preseason all-conference team, along with Alicia Holm from the womens team.

Metro basketball teams move up one spot each
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Metro State men's and women's basketball teams both moved up in the Division II rankings after winning all four of their games this past weekend. The men's team is ranked No. 3 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches rankings, and the women's team is No. 4 in this week's USA Today/ESPN Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II Coaches' Poll.

COLORADO SPRINGS - The Metro State baseball team was picked to finish third in the Mountain Division of the 2012 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Coaches Poll and fifth overall in the conference. Colorado Mesa is the preseason favorite to win the RMAC.

Softball team picked third in RMAC preseason poll
COLORADO SPRINGS - The 2012 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Softball Preseason Poll selected Metro State to finish third out of 14 schools in the conference, compiling 51 points, as voted upon by the league's coaches. Colorado Mines and Regis were the preseason favorites in the RMAC. Metro State head coach Kristi Lansford enters her first season with the softball program and will look to build from last year's 34-18 season.

Three Roadrunners earn Sportswomen of Colorado Awards
DENVER - Metro State will have a record three people honored at the 2012 Sportswomen of Colorado banquet on March 11. Jennessa Tesone will earn an award as the top collegiate softball player, women's basketball coach Tanya Haave will be honored as Coach of the Year, and former women's basketball player Cassondra Bratton has been selected for the Comeback Award.

COLORADO SPRINGS - Metro State men's basketball player Jonathan Morse was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. He is just the second player of the week for the Roadrunners this season, as Reggie Evans earned the offensive award on Nov. 14.

Evans' game-winner holds off upset bid by Adams State
DENVER - Reggie Evans made an off-balance jumper in the lane with 10.4 seconds left as No. 5 Metro State rallied to hold off an upset bid by Adams State and win 52-51 on Saturday night at the Auraria Event Center. The Roadrunners improved to 17-1 overall and 12-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while ASC fell to 12-4 and 9-4.
